The Ohrwurm (German for "catchy tune") is the informational magazine for the municipal music school of Bietigheim-Bissingen that is released twice a year. While the magazine is printed in black and white (due to the limited budget), each issue features one different additional spot color. Issue 15 of the magazine – released in October 2015 – puts a focus on the social factor of making music with other musicians and the personal benefits that ensue.
As far as the design is concerned, this issue explores the interaction between copy and photography and tries to take a more playful approach in utilising the underlying grid. Type, color and the photography are pushed to the edge, making the most of the available space while trying to create whitespace where possible. Great effort has been put into making every spread unique in order to create an varied and immersive experience for the inclined reader. Overprinting and gradients try to expand the limited color palette.
As always, the magazine is printed in a run of 2500 copies on uncoated paper.
